Providenza evokes the extraordinary, chance, the unknown.
Providenza is a hillside turned agri-cultural laboratory, immersed in nature in Corsica.
Conceived by filmmaker Antoine Viviani, the ongoing dialogue with this abandoned land gives rise to a living and unique working ecosystem, attentive to the fragile power of the site and its biodiversity.
The landscape is not a backdrop but a presence that questions, enchants and displaces.
Through its residencies, workspaces, spaces of care and encounter, Providenza connects the Corsican territory with an international scene and with partners — Villa Medici, Warp Records, Columbia Institute for Ideas and Imagination, CNC, ARTE, Creative Europe — around a shared attention to the living world and the bridging of practices and cultures.

Each year, Providenza welcomes over 70 residents from more than 20 different nationalities.
Main programme — Twelve artists, international and emerging Corsican, selected by an international jury for tailor-made residencies, half of whom work in dialogue with the territory. Among them: Mati Diop, Emmanuel Gras, Emanuele Coccia, Laurel Halo, Caroline Poggi & Jonathan Vinel, Ben Rivers, Théo Casciani, Baptiste Morizot.
Partner programmes — A dozen artists join residencies co-created with Villa Medici, Warp Records, Creative Europe, CNC and ARTE, the Institute for Ideas and Imagination.
Volunteer residencies — Around fifty young adults from across Europe — 20 hours a week dedicated to permaculture, eco-construction and cultural support.

From the start, Providenza invites cinematic and musical projects from visionary artists to come and haunt its landscape (film, music, video art, sound arts, installations, immersive experiences, etc.).
Alongside, ample space is given to transdisciplinary approaches that connect the many facets of the living world: craft, design, fine arts, agriculture, art-sciences, care practices, culinary arts.
So at A Cucina, the farm table, chefs in residence — including each year the culinary fellows of Villa Medici — cook vegetables from the garden for the local community, who in turn discovers the residents' works at the edible amphitheatre.
08 — 27
There is no art school in Corsica. Providenza bridges international artists and young island creators — residencies, workshops with the village classes, a summer festival that gathers over 1,000 visitors each year.
The jury for the main programme selected 12 projects from nearly 500 applications — 10 nationalities, 7 women and 5 men: 4 projects engaging with the Corsican territory, 4 in moving image and film, 3 in music, 2 in research, 2 in writing.

At Providenza to write — on deep time, biology and citrus — the founding text of a new residency programme co-created with Villa Medici around the concept of hybridisation, Baptiste Morizot is hosted on 17 June at 5.30pm by Arte Libri at Casa Salvini, in Île-Rousse, for a conversation around his residency and the Corsican territory.
A few copies of his latest book, Liberté, dignité, habitabilité. Donner au siècle la valeur qui lui manque (Gallimard, Tracts), written with jurist Laurent Neyret, will be available.

After a successful first edition, Warp returns to Providenza. Three musicians from experimental backgrounds compose, under the direction of Rakhi Singh (Manchester Collective), a new orchestral work commissioned by Warp, premiered live in Q4 2026 — Unsound Festival (Krakow) then the Southbank Centre (London).

A ten-day residency bringing five award-winning first-time filmmakers into dialogue with around ten industry professionals — distribution, international sales, programming, financing, press — in the heart of the Corsican mountains.
Four moments: masterclasses, pitch sessions, one-to-one mentoring and night-time screenings. An initiative by Tandem (production · distribution) and Providenza, supporting first features in their final development stage.

Fifteen hectares of great diversity gathering a chestnut grove of 250 centuries-old trees, market garden terraces, ponds, fields, a forest, several springs and a stream, connected to an olive grove perched above a river. A fragile space, a bridge between centuries-old agricultural traditions and the need to reinvent itself in the face of ecological upheaval.
Capacity to host multidisciplinary groups of 12 to 15 people: two 70 m² open spaces, a 40 m² sound and video studio equipped by Nicolas Becker, five autonomous workstations, a wood and ceramics workshop, etc.
Lodgings scattered across the site ensure intimacy and rest for up to 17 people: a house with three double rooms, three large two-room cabins, ten individual cabins, a yurt…
Swimming pool, sauna, care space — attention to the body as an integral part of the creative work.
The place regularly opens to the territory — screenings, concerts, performances: an outdoor amphitheatre seating 100, and A Cucina, the farm table, hosts up to 50 covers each summer evening.
Providenza sits in the Tenda massif, between the beaches of the Désert des Agriates and the western coast of the Corsican Cape — 35 minutes from Bastia airport and 25 minutes from Saint-Florent's port.
